THE OLD TESTAMENT
There are 39 books in the Old Testament, generally seperated into 4 divisions:
1. The Pentateuch, traditionally designated as the 5 books of Moses.

2. Historical Books, numbering 12, from Joshua to Esther.
Joshua Judges Ruth 1 Samuel 2 Samuel 1 Kings 2 Kings 1 Chronicles 2 Chronicles Ezra Nehemiah Esther
3. Poetical Books, numbering 5, from Job to Song of Solomon.
Job Psalms Proverbs Ecclesiastes Song of Solomon
4. Prophetical Books, including the writings of the 4 Major Prophets, from Isaiah to Daniel, and the 12 Minor Prophets from Hosea to Malachi.

THE NEW TESTAMENT
There are 27 books in the New Testament which are grouped as the Gospels, History, Epistles, and the Prophetic Book of the Revelation. In addition, some have further reduced the Epistles into the Pauline and General Epistles.
